Doric Group is led by a young, approachable and forward thinking management team that is constantly in touch with customers and the market. Meet our key people…
I built and sold my previous business, Brierley Almond Limited to Bunzl plc in 1999, creating the Bunzl Retail Division. Now as Chairman of the Doric Group, a group of companies that has grown through the acquisition of complementary businesses, predominantly in paper based packaging sectors I am enjoying the challenge of working with a young and forward thinking management team to grow a successful business once again in a dynamic and ever changing industry. Outside work, I enjoy my large family (13 grandchildren), watching most sports, particularly soccer and rugby, and playing golf (not very well).
I’m responsible for the sales and commercial aspects of Doric FPD and Doric Crimped. I enjoy meeting customers and suppliers and regard all customers irrespective of size as an important asset to the business. Wherever there’s a need, whether it be technical, material or price I try to add value in any way I can. I enjoy the collective responsibility that exists at Doric towards growing and developing the business - we care equally about our customers and employees. Outside of work I like to travel with my wife and two sons and take part in family interests like sailing, fishing, swimming and rugby. There is a real passion for motorsports in our house from watching Formula 1 to racing each other in go karts!
I work across the Doric Group, spending time at all three Group companies. I am responsible for all financial affairs including acquisitions, so my work is varied and interesting! I enjoy coming to work every day because of the people. We have great internal relationships as well as close relationships with long term customers and suppliers. Outside of work, aside from my family, my interests are water sports in the summer, including waterskiing, fishing and dinghy sailing. In the winter I play 5 a side football but generally do less and drink and eat far too much!
I work in a number of roles across the Doric Group, regularly liaising with our valued customers and suppliers. My background in paper and board also means I work closely on packaging innovation and reducing the environmental impact of the products we manufacture. Outside of work, I am a full time taxi driver for my 5 children and also enjoy watching (and sometimes playing) most sports when I get a chance to.
I was previously UK Operations Director of Bunzl Retail before joining the Doric Group in 2005. I am responsible for implementing robust systems and controls across the Group to ensure our businesses are consistently able to offer excellent levels of product quality and service. Away from work, family is my priority, and is topped up by an involved social life. Other than that, if time permits, I play golf poorly and football rarely.
Prior to joining the Doric Group I had been working in HR for over 15 years primarily in the manufacturing sector. At Doric I am responsible for the HR function across the group of companies. This involves the full HR lifecycle including recruitment, pay and reward, organisation development, training and learning and most importantly making the Doric Group a fun and stimulating place to work. Outside of work I have a much underused Gym membership, am a self confessed foodie and holidays are often decided around restaurants I want to visit, this year was San Sebastian in Spain. I am also a regular skier and try and get in a couple of trips a year.
I have been with the Doric Group since 2015 and spend my time across three Group companies. I have worked in manufacturing for most of my career and it puts me in a good step to use the knowledge that I have gained over the years. My role involves preparing the financial information for the management team and working on various projects which makes the job interesting and varied. Working with a forward looking team across the Group ensures life at Doric is interesting and enjoyable. Outside of work, spending time with my family is important to me as is volunteering for charity work which keeps me busy. I enjoy doing DIY work around the house and look forward to the summers when the days are long and the sun makes people happier.
Before joining Doric Group I worked at Bunzl Retail Supplies for 10 years working my way up to Senior Category Manager, achieving MCIPS and sourcing Goods Not for Resale products from all over the world. As Group Purchasing Manager I work across all companies in the Doric Group which makes every day different and, other than the people I work with, one of the main reasons I love my job. One day I can be discussing paper packaging and the next edible sprinkles! I love understanding how product costs are built up and how working in partnership with both suppliers and customers we can ensure we are providing the right products at the right prices. When not at work, my life tends to revolve around my son, holidaying in Portugal, the odd metafit class and as much shopping as I can get in – I am a buyer after all!
I am a sales manager for the Doric Group which means each day is incredibly varied. I spend time with customers from all of the Doric companies and have been able to build up relationships with customers along the way, which makes my job a real pleasure. I have over 20 years’ experience within the packaging industry which I hope enables me to come up with new ideas when called for. I find this industry involves a real learning curve as we all strive towards sustainable packaging. Outside of Work I have a busy life with three children. Time permitting I play squash and I am a fair weather dinghy sailor which I enjoy racing at weekends.
Prior to joining the Doric Group in March 2016, I have spend over 20 years implementing and updating a variety of Quality Management Standards for both Manufacturing and Service based organisation. My days are spread across the 3 Doric Group Companies ensuring Compliance to is maintained at all sites to quality standards, health, safety and environmental requirements. When I’m not working I love to socialise, spending time with my family and friends, although I am a keen hostess I let my husband do the cooking. I have 2 children, 1 grown up and 1 not quite, so I am not off the hook yet, but I do enjoy escaping to warmer climates.
